Soap Stuck in the mold? No worries, here’s a few things you can do!

30 Aug

Hi! Everyone…

I’ve been neglecting the blog lately. I have no excuse except for the fact that I’ve been so busy. Well, that’s part of it the other part is I just didn’t feel like blogging. You know sometimes you just don’t feel like it.

Anyway, I’ve been looking at some of the searches and have found that some of you are looking for ways to get the soap that’s stuck out of the mold.

I should  mention,

I have a few new soaps pictured below they’ll be ready in 6 – 8 weeks…..

Okay, now getting back to what I originally came on here for. Stuck Soap!

First let me tell you the ways you can avoid it.

  • Line the Mold w/ Freezer paper sometimes they can also be lined with plastic wrap.
  • Can you decrease the water? Sometimes by adjusting the water it can avoid sticking. make sure you can decrease the water though…..You do Need liquid for the lye.

Now, if the soap is stuck right now…….Here’s what you can do.

  • Stick it in the freezer for 1/2hour  to 1 hour. Then take it out and boom it should come right out!
  • If that doesn’t work then leave the soap in the mold until the liquid evaporates. You’ll know when it does because the soap will pull off of the sides. (it could take awhile doing it this way depending on the humidity) but remember patience is a virtue!

Need more help? email me:)

Now, onto my new soaps!

3 Oils for a Hard, Cleansing & Fluffy Bar ……

28 Aug

Does it bother you when you’re trying to create a nice hard bar that cleanses & has a nice fluffy lather ~~ You just can’t seem to get it right.

Here are 3  oils that should produce a bar with All of  those qualities.

  • BABASSU OIL — is an oil extracted from the seeds of the Babassu palm. Thought to be soothing, protective, conditioning and moisturizing to the skin. Non-greasy and  it’s  commonly added to  products made for dry scalp and itching skin.

  • COCONUT OIL —  is an  oil extracted from a matured coconut harvested from the coconut palm. Produces a wonderful lather…..and is edible and a Great moisturizer!

  • PALM KERNEL OIL —Is an oil that is extracted from the fruit of Oil Palms.

ALL 3 are great for producing a Great bar of Soap!

So much to do so Little time to do it…..

School is right around the corner….Time to make Acne Soap!

16 Aug

Whew! Can you believe that it’s Thursday? August 16,2012?

I’m sure some kids will be going to school very shortly. Here in New Jersey the kids start around the first week of September. I’m a little late but I just came up with a new recipe to help with problem skin such as Acne-Pimples-Zits….

My soap recipe has:

Sunflower oil – Which contains vitamin E and is a natural Antioxidant

Neem Oil – Has antiseptic properties

Mango Seed Butter – regenerates skin cells and  is healing too!

Castor Oil – is a humectant by attracting moisture to skin

Coconut oil – contains lauric acid which  known to  be  anti-bacterial and helping to eliminate bacterial infections when taken orally or applied directly to the skin.

I’m also going to incorporate  a tiny bit of Dead Sea Salt & Sea Clay! I’m going to keep it unscented and Palm free!

Okay, so before I get moving on that…Here’s another pic of some Loofah Soap!

Happy Tuesday time for a cp soap tip!

14 Aug

It’s Tuesday and it’s time for a Great Cold Process Soap tip!

I’ve been so busy lately that I can’t catch my breath! First let me show you some of my new soaps…

                    Eucalyptus Spearmint

Lavender

**Freshly Squeezed

Life is Good….My customers at the  Boonton Farmers’ market are the BEST! They’ve  been keeping me extremely busy. This past weekend I sold out of so many items I can’t believe it.

I’ve also learned a  lot of things like People like Silk in soap. So, I’ve decided to make some trial batches with silk –  to see if they sell better than ones without. There is a definite difference with the silk. The silk adds a silky smooth texture and feel to the bars.

Okay, now that I have that out of the way…Time for the Cold process Soap Tip!

Do you you ever have trouble getting soap out of a mold?

It happened to me a few days ago. I forgot to line this one particular mold. The soap wouldn’t budge at all. I started talking to myself – I couldn’t believe that I didn’t line the mold. When I say that the soap didn’t budge I mean it wasn’t going to move at  all.

I decided to sit down and think about it for a moment. Glad I did because the answer just popped into my head. The Freezer……Yep, I just popped that baby right into the freezer and let it be for about an hour. When I took it out and flipped it over. Boom the soap came out.

I’m sure this will not work for every single soap but it worked for me on that one day with that one batch of soap!
Yippee for the freezer:)

AND the next time I’ll line the mold……..Plastic wrap works well for that mold.  You could also get a new mold like these molds from Bramble Berry!

2 of My Favorite Ingredients for making CP Soap!

9 Aug

Happy Thursday Day!

So, you want to know about ingredients that are used making CP Soap?

Here are 2 of my favorites.

Coconut & Palm

COCONUT OIL

  • Coconut Oil is obtained from dried coconut meat.  A percentage of coconut oil is moisturizing but if too much is added then it becomes drying. I keep my percentage around 30% depending on what other oils I’m using. It makes a Hard bar of soap and is the ONLY oil that can produce a fluffy lather even in salty ocean water.

  • Palm Oil comes from the Oil Palm. It’s made from the Pulp of the fruit. When used with other oils makes a wonderful bar of soap. The finished bar will have a firmness that will last. Some soap-makers refuse to use Palm oil because they feel it’s killing the rainforest. See, some countries are burning the rainforest and planting Oil Palms. I feel it’s no different than clearing land in Hawaii and planting a pineapple or banana field. I love my palm oil! If you’d like more info regarding palm oil you can read this !
