Are handcrafted soaps SAFE for Childrens’s Skin?

childrenThe answer to that would be Yes!

and

that’s double if you’ve been using Store bought soap that has had the glycerin removed and  contains drying detergents. Handcrafted soap is perfect for kids skin.

At P.S. I Love Soap Co. we make a wonderful Buttermilk soap that we leave unscented and uncolored. It’s extremely Gentle &  Moisturizing… it’s great for Baby’s tender skin or any kid.

If you are wondering about colored soaps scented with Fragrance Oils and is colored, that is completely up to you (the parent.)

I feel that if the soap is made with approved coloring & Fragrance Oil (Phthalate Free) the soap is safe. But, some will  feel different. That’s completely up to you.

Are there Any Chemicals in my soaps?

Are there Any Chemicals in my soaps?

I have two different answers for that question.

yes no

Both answers, really?

Yes! Both….

For years I was making Natural Soap for myself and family. It was a need to end DRY SKIN. I wasn’t making it to avoid chemicals. My goal at the time (for me and my family) was to get DETERGENTS off  our Skin and it worked

No More Dry Skin!

While doing it I accumulated an abundance of soaps.  (I’ve been making handcrafted soaps for 6/7 years.)

Last year (2012),

I started selling my soaps at the local Farmers Market.

I would tell customers that I use Fragrance Oil and FDA Approved Coloring….No one seemed to mind. I answered lots questions and it got me thinking. That’s when I took the plunge (although, not as big as I would have liked) and made  a few batches of ALL – NATURAL soaps.

I made a sign specially for the tray they were on….Saying “ALL NATURAL Soaps” and had an arrow pointing to them. I had many, many, many customers ask what are these? I would tell them, those are my ALL NATURAL soaps that I use Essential Oils (plant based not manufactured)and I use natural coloring like Paprika instead of FDA approved coloring. Out of say 100 customers maybe 1 possibly 2 wanted the ALL NATURAL Soaps.

With that being said I have added ALL Natural Soaps to my ETSY store. This is just the beginning…..More to come!

Here is the link to my ALL Natural Soaps on ETSY.

Okay, so let me get back to the question. Are there any chemicals in my soaps?

Answers:

No – There are None in my ALL NATURAL  and Unscented No Color Selections.

But

YES – There are in every other soap I make. Since Fragrance is a chemical and some of the colorings I use too.

It’s ALL about CHOICES!

What is the best way to store the soap between uses?

The answer to that question is super easy.

A Soap Dish.

soap dish

Yep, that’s what I said a soap dish. But not Any soap dish.

You’ll need one that will keep your Natural soap out of standing water.

See, the most important thing to keep in mind when choosing a soap dish is making sure the soap will sit above the run off of water.

Below, is an example of a  common wooden soap dish.

Many people use these types of soap dishes.  I personally don’t like them. I find that the  soap sticks to them

AND

the soap is not far enough away from the water.

So, the soap doesn’t dry as fast.

See how the soap sits on the Wooden dish…..?

Now,  onto the type I prefer.

It’s more like little finger tips or pegs holding up your bar of soap. (see the last picture below)

Plus, you can’t see them but there are some holes between those fingers / pegs.

The holes make sure the water drains.

Keeping your bar of soap lasting longer.

Can you see how the soap sits on those fingers/pegs? The soap will dry faster which will make your bar last longer.

And

That’s a good thing:)
