Happy November 1st!

1 Nov

I just can not believe how time fly’s!

FLY

I’ve been extremely busy with the soap business and my personal life. And I just realized at this very moment (well, probably  ten minutes ago) that it’s November 1st! It’s November 1st and I haven’t written a post in like forever.

So I started thinking what could I share with you that would be a wealth of information.  AND Boom I remembered reading this awesome blog post about *ORGANIC and what that means written by The Sirona Springs Blog. You can read the post here. You need to go and read this post! Ruth Esteves really tells you everything you need to know when it comes to ORGANIC and soap products! She is the owner of Sirona Springs onlne and the co-owner of The Nova studio where she gets to teach what she loves to do.

Anyway, I hope you do go and read her post about what ORGANIC really means!

I (P.S. I Love Soap Co.) made the NEWS!

11 Jun

The beginning of the Farmers Market has begun. It’s a brand new year and this year we’re decided to do two markets. The Boonton Farmers Market – every Sat between 8:30 & 2 and the Pequannock Farmers Market – every Thursday between 2 & 7. It’s already been a lot of fun. I Love when customers come right up to the table look around and say ” okay, what’s new?” It just makes my day……

But, not only have the Farmers Markets opened but The Daily Record (local newspaper) did an awesome article about my journey  and my soaps! If you want to know why and how my business happened,   You can see the article here.

I’ve been incredibly busy and inspired this year in a great way! What inspires you?

SUGAR = Healing?

30 Apr

I love when I find out why customers are using the products they do. I have one customer we’ll call her Blair (since I don’t want to reveal her real name.) Blair has been buying my Sweet LOVE scrub forever. She’s always bragging about it…

Saying,

“Pam, you don’t understand how good it is. There is something about your scrub”

Who knew…? So one day I asked Blair why the Sugar Scrub and not the Dead Sea Salt Scrub….And she came back with Sugar is healing…

and I said “Really?”

She said “YES, and there was a study done using sugar to heal wounds”

See now that intrigued me. So I started Looking online and sure enough there have been studies saying that sugar indeed helped to heal wounds.

Basically, the gist of every article I’ve read is if you pack a wound with Sugar. The sugar will draw liquid from a wound. Bacteria need water to survive. So, no water no bacteria. Simple huh?

Here are some links to check out… New York Times article here.  & Daily Mail UK article here.

All I can say is I think that’s amazing!

Okay, now have you ever found what you were looking for?

I’ve been on the search for the LONGEST time for a Body Butter or what I like to call Body Butta… I can never find one that’s right for me, ever! and I mean ever! They’re either too goopey, gooey, or not moisturizing enough, or they stink…(I’m not into stinky things.) This has been an ongoing quest to find THE PERFECT moisturizer. So, I decided I was going to make my own!

It was a long hard road but I’ve finally perfected MY Body *LOVE Butta!

This is how I did it!

I Measured the Distilled Water.

1

Then Measured theStearic Acid

2

Then the Emulsifying Wax (E-WAX)

3

Then the Oils & Butters

4

Then I melted the oils and butters

6

Then I Mixed the Distilled Water, Butters & Oils Together!

8

Mixed with my Stick Blender

9

Then I took a nap and waited for it to cool down and firm up….(very relaxing)

nap

This is what is looked like when it was cool and firm enough…

and since I made it with WATER

I had NO CHOICE but to add a Preservative!

(otherwise it WILL get Nasty’s, and who wants Nasty’s? Hint, not me) 🙂

12a

Then it was time to WHIP!

13a

Now, it’s whipped….

Here’s the finished Body *LOVE Butter!

Short Lived…..

7 Jan

It’s Tuesday! So, happy Tuesday 🙂

When I realized I didn’t have enough  I went and immediately ordered it. Needless to say you & I will have to wait a bit for it to be made…but I did make something else that I’m Super excited about and can’t wait to show pics…but first I have to take them..hahahaha

Kick off to 2014 SOAP Making!!!

6 Jan

Good Morning and Happy Monday!

Today I’m starting my 2014 soaps. The first one up,  is my *ever Popular Dirt worm soap! being SOLD exclusively on Open Sky. If you’ve never heard of Open Sky it’s a great marketplace with some high end awesome products and I’m proud to be a seller there. Here’s the link if you’d like to join Open Sky.

I’ve been putting off the Dirt Worm Soap because Micheal’s (where I used to get those little worms) stopped selling them. AH>>>>I’ve been on a long hard journey but I finally found them.YAY!!! AND they look awesome can’t wait to show you the pics.

For those of you that have no idea what Dirt Worm Soap is it’s a soap that smells and looks like REAL dirt and has a worm that pops out! They make awesome gifts for Kids Birthday parties but I also have adult men customers that love the idea of showering with a bar of dirt w/ a worm. (I guess it makes them feel like a kid again, hehehehe)
