Re-batched Soap!

30 Sep

Happy Monday!

The weekend went by so fast didn’t it?

Anyway, We’ve had this batch of soap (Guinness)soap that has been around for a bit. Mainly because we had forgotten to add the fragrance. We sell a lot of beer soap but believe or not Men actually like that added scent. Who knew, right?

So, what we needed to do was re-batch the batch we had made. What’s re-batch? It’s the same as Hand-milled soap. You take soap that has already been made (Great for anyone that doesn’t want to work with Lye) and melt it. Then you can add  fragrance and/or color of your choice. It’s wonderful way to make ALL Natural bars using essential oils.

For us it’s not our favorite way to make soap but it works especially when you forget something like fragrance! LoL 🙂

Since I take the pics by myself sometimes it’s hard to get just the right pictures that i was looking for…If you have ANY questions Please ask 🙂

Busy, Busy, Busy and some pic updates….

21 Aug

This summer is flying by. I mean really flying by. I have no clue where the time goes. Being that the first part of the Summer here in New jersey was so stink-en Humid & Hot. You know the type of weather that you feel like doing absolutely nothing. The kind of weather that  zaps all of your energy.  The kind of energy that makes people shop….Which is great for me 🙂

There’s only one problem though, I fell a few batches behind. So, it was catch up time. I was on a soaping marathon. AND as of today I’m almost completely caught up. Yay!

I think now is a good time to say “THANK YOU” to All of our customers  and blog followers!!!!!

Here are a few pictures of new soaps!

(btw, if you are interested in ANY of our soaps email us at psilovesoapco@gmail.com put Blog Soap in Subject line……)

Can shredded Loofa (Luffa) in soap clog a drain?

30 Jul

This was a question we got asked a lot last year at the Farmers Market. Then when we were looking at our Blog statistics we noticed people were searching for the same answer.  I’m guessing it’s because other soaper’s (people who make or sell soap) use shredded loofah in their soaps.

I admit last year we made one batch of soap that had shredded loofah in it.  Clogging the drain never came into my mind when I was making it. The first day we added the shredded loofah soap to our table Our customers noticed….

They would ask ~ well they would state I think this will clog the drain. For us it was better to be safe than sorry and we pulled the soap off the table.

Now, when we create a soap we keep  the drain in our minds…. the more we thought about it the more we would hate to hear that a soap clogged a drain. Now, we don’t put anything in our soaps that could possible clog a drain.

We want our customers to be happy!!

Dove really Irritates me!

8 May

Not this poor little Dove…

Dove as in Moisturizing bars (so they say)

A few weeks ago (maybe a little longer) I saw an AD for Dove is went something like this:

SOAP Strips your Skin DOVE is different.

There are NOT many things in this world that really get under my skin.

I have to admit this got under my skin. Not at first because when I originally saw it  I said “well isn’t that the biggest lie” and then I forgot about it.

That is until I saw it on Good Ole’ Facebook. Someone had taken a picture of a bus that had Dove’s advertising  on it.

Most SOAPMAKERS (like me) steer away from adding detergents to our soaps. Detergents dry your skin. Dove uses detergents and then they add some oils to it to make you believe it’s going to help your dry skin. I can not tell you how many customers have told me that our soaps are so much better than Dove.

Alabu Skincare has a Great article  that Explains Dove Ingredients you can read it here.

Are there Any Chemicals in my soaps?

21 Mar

I have two different answers for that question.

yes no

Both answers, really?

Yes! Both….

For years I was making Natural Soap for myself and family. It was a need to end DRY SKIN. I wasn’t making it to avoid chemicals. My goal at the time (for me and my family) was to get DETERGENTS off  our Skin and it worked

No More Dry Skin!

While doing it I accumulated an abundance of soaps.  (I’ve been making handcrafted soaps for 6/7 years.)

Last year (2012),

I started selling my soaps at the local Farmers Market.

I would tell customers that I use Fragrance Oil and FDA Approved Coloring….No one seemed to mind. I answered lots questions and it got me thinking. That’s when I took the plunge (although, not as big as I would have liked) and made  a few batches of ALL – NATURAL soaps.

I made a sign specially for the tray they were on….Saying “ALL NATURAL Soaps” and had an arrow pointing to them. I had many, many, many customers ask what are these? I would tell them, those are my ALL NATURAL soaps that I use Essential Oils (plant based not manufactured)and I use natural coloring like Paprika instead of FDA approved coloring. Out of say 100 customers maybe 1 possibly 2 wanted the ALL NATURAL Soaps.

With that being said I have added ALL Natural Soaps to my ETSY store. This is just the beginning…..More to come!

Here is the link to my ALL Natural Soaps on ETSY.

Okay, so let me get back to the question. Are there any chemicals in my soaps?

No – There are None in my ALL NATURAL  and Unscented No Color Selections.

YES – There are in every other soap I make. Since Fragrance is a chemical and some of the colorings I use too.

It’s ALL about CHOICES!

My newest Cold Processed Soap — Will be ready in 6 weeks……

17 Jan

Well, I finally did it!

I made a batch of soap…I know I  asked for suggestions and Darilyn of

The High Note

gave the suggestion of Tuberose. Unfortunately, I have some Tuberose soaps in my inventory.  So,

This is the soap I made…….But I need a name now,( it’s an orchid, wood, spices & Lemon)

Anyone have a suggestion?

18 Nov

Are you ready?

To tell you the truth I’m no where near ready.

So much to do so little time to do it. Last week I started making a grocery list. Here’s my list,

It’s pretty sad looking huh? At least it’s a start. LoL!

Do you have your list done?

Well, I know the list will be pretty big in a few minutes and I have to make sure the items for my favorite “Hot Apple Cider” are on that list.

Hot Apple Cider

This is my absolute favorite recipe that I found on All-Recipes.com

Here’s the recipe:

6 cups apple cider

1/4 cup real maple syrup

2 cinnamon sticks

6 whole cloves

6 whole all spice berries

1 orange peel – cut into strips

1 lemon peel – cut into strips

  • Pour the apple cider and maple syrup into a large stainless steel saucepan.
  • Place the cinnamon sticks, cloves, allspice berries, orange peel and lemon peel in the center of a washed square of cheesecloth; fold up the sides of the cheesecloth to enclose the bundle, then tie it up with a length of kitchen string. Drop the spice bundle into the cider mixture.
  • Place the saucepan over moderate heat for 5 to 10 minutes, or until the cider is very hot but not boiling.
  • Remove the cider from the heat. Discard the spice bundle. Ladle the cider into big cups or mugs, adding a fresh cinnamon stick to each serving if desired.

If you enjoy (like I do) a hot apple ciderTRY This it’s so yummy!

If that’s not your cup of tea maybe this is,

a nice bar of Fruit Loops extra moisturizing soap.
